Moving itself may not be fun, but there is always the
excitement of new surroundings, new people and of
course your new home itself. Where to wire equipment,
perhaps the new place has a better setting for your
system, etc ... Often good things to look forward to.
Here's hoping Vince Coen has a great move this month as
he moves to a new home in the UK. Best Wishes, Vince,
and I hope your move is smooth :)
A sad story of which the world took note and sighed. David
Bowie's passing this past weekend leaves a rift that won't be
soon filled. RIP Mr. Bowie.

A church had been steadily losing members on Sunday
mornings...and each of them had a different excuse as to why
they missed. So, they decided to have a "No Excuses Sunday"...&
to acquaint the members with the program, the church printed the
following in their order of worship.
"No Excuse Sunday"
In order to make it posible for everyone to attend church
next Sunday, we have planned a special "No Excuse Sunday".
1. Cots will be placed in the vestibule for those who say
"Sunday is my only day to sleep in".
2. Eye drops will be available for those whose eyes are tired
from watching TV too late on Saturday night.
3. We will have steel helmets who believe the roof will cave in
if they show up for church.
4. Blankets will be furnished for those who complain that the
church is too cold. Fans will be on hand for those who say the
church is too hot.
5. We will have hearing aids for the parishioners who say, "The
pastor doesn't talk loud enough". There will be cotton for
those who say "The pastor talks too loud".
6. Score cards will be available for those who wish to count
the hypocrites.
7. We guarantee that some relatives will be present for those
who like to go visiting on Sunday.
8. There will be TV dinners available for those who claim they
can't go to church, and cook dinner too.
9. One section of the church will have some trees in it for
those who see God in nature...especially on the golf course.
With this in mind, a golf course and lake will be provided for
those who'd rather play golf and fish on Sunday.
10. The sanctuary will be decorated with both Christmas
poinsettias and Easter lilies, to create a familiar environment
for those who have never seen the church without them.

System Down Time

Hello All!
We are finally moving home from the sunny climes of Roydon where I
have lived for 35 years to Hatfield (in the UK).
All this will occur hopefully, on the 21st January.
That's the good news and now for the bad -> I will not have
telephone and internet services (Fibre) until the 25th so my system
will not be polling and will not be accessable.
I am not looking forward to this as on the 25th I will be
downloading a lot of emails based on my getting 100 - 150 per day
let alone all of the fido and sportsnet echos and files.
Fear not, nothing will be lost as it will just wait for my first
polls.
The good news is that my upload speed will go from 1.2Mb to 20Mb
assuming I can configure the new modem/router - This will be a stop
gap so I can work out what is what before getting a better quality
one say from Netgear and configure it for port forwarding etc. My
download speed will go from 17-20 Mb to 76Mb.
These speeds will take up to 10 days to stabilize but the speeds
should be a lot closer the the new than the old.
In the meanwhile I will be setting up my newly bought second hand
Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 quad core Xeon system. I still have to try and
find memory for it as the box only has 6 Gb Ram and I would like to
increase by around 16Gb but so far I have not found any via Kinston
or Crucial, may be the box is too old so if any one knows where I
can get some without it costing Apple rates please get in touch.
Once it is up I will try and set it up as a back up for my primary
system running AMD FX8350 8-core and 16Gb ram which runs the BBS,
Web, file servers along with Mysql and Oracle. Will need to find
out how to install the C compilation and development systems in
order to recompile all of the source code - again if any one knows
how, I would be most gratefull as I know swat about OSX and the
latest version that is installed El Capitan (or similar).

Give it a title, sign your name and network address if you have
one and send it along!
Don't worry about the format, I can take anything you send me
and mutilate it further as you can see above. Linux is nice
that way (g). Spell checking your own work will help though
(something I'm typically guilty of (g)).
