tettsted n (definite singular tettstedet, indefinite plural tettsteder, definite plural tettstedene)

  1. A built-up area (i.e. a city, town or village), (per Nordic definition a locality with at least 200 inhabitants and up to 200 metres in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, or 50 metres in Norway, between the buildings; if two building are located further away from each other, they are not located in the same locality)
    Tettstedet Oslo passerte en million innbyggere i slutten av 2018.
    The built-up area of Oslo passed a million inhabitants in the end of 2018.
