  1. (intransitive, of an engine, motor, aircraft, etc.) To stall completely; to come to an end or quit through stalling
    My car was running fine and then, for no reason, it stalled out.
  2. (intransitive, of a storm, hurricane, etc.) To slow, come to a halt, and remain; to linger
    The hurricane is expected to make landfall and then stall out, dumping several inches of rain over several days.
