somna om

Swedish

Etymology

somna (fall asleep) + om (re-, again)

Verb

somna om (present somnar om, preterite somnade om, supine somnat om, imperative somna om)

  1. to fall asleep again, after having woken up; to go back to sleep
Jag lyckades somna om efter att jag avstyrt lönnmördaren, men blev väckt av ännu en lönnmördare
I managed to go back to sleep after averting the assassin, but was awakened by yet another assassin

Usage notes

The present and past participles omsomnande (going back to sleep) and omsomnad (gone back to sleep) are perfectly understandable, though quirky-sounding, like in English.
