  1. to flow profusely and noisily (of a liquid)
    Vatten skvalade nedför avloppet i ösregnet
    Water poured down the drain in the pouring rain
  2. (figuratively) to produce a sound perceived as monotonous, uninteresting, or the like (of for example a radio playing music thought to be unengaging)
