From Proto-Germanic *sikrōną, *sīkrōną, frequentative verb derived from or related to Proto-Germanic *sīką (trickling water). Cognate with Saterland Frisian sikkerje (to trickle), German Low German sickern (to trickle), German sickern (to trickle). More at sike, sie.
