Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *skāpa, further related to Greek σκᾶπος (skâpos), σκῆπτρον (skêptron, staff), Latin scāpus (shaft, stem), Old High German skaft (shaft, spear).[1] Pisani and Cabej claim a borrowing from north western Doric Greek σκᾶπος (skâpos)[2]
