Etymology
From Proto-Khasian *cʰǝriŋ, from Proto-Austroasiatic *sliŋ ~ sliiŋ ~ sliəŋ ~ slaiŋ (“to be tilted, to squint”). Cognate with Bahnar həreːŋ (“to lean over”), as well as with Bahnar pliːŋ (“to squint”) and Khmer ស្រលៀង (srɑliəng, “cross-eyed”). Doublet of shyngkhliang.[1]
