Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish سونمك (sünmek),[1] from Middle Turkic [script needed] (sün-), a variant of Old Turkic [script needed] (sun-, extend) (intr.)).[2] While sunmak became a transitive verb and gained new meanings, sünmek has preserved its intransitive meaning.
