From Proto-Albanian *wradnjā, from pre-Albanian *wr̥h₂dnih₂-, from Proto-Indo-European *wr̥h₂dnyo-, from *wréh₂ds. Compare Latin rādīx and Ancient Greek ῥάδιξ (rhádix).[2] Ultimately a doublet of radhiqe through the Proto-Indo-European root.
