Etymology
From a derivative of Latin rāpum (“turnip”), developing a sense of "tail" in many Romance languages of Iberia, such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Galician rabo. Alternatively, possibly from Old Spanish rabosa, itself of the same origin.[1]
