Borrowed from Middle Low German redik, from Old Saxon *rādik, from Proto-West Germanic *rādik, borrowed from Latin rādīcem. Doublet of radikal, rot, and rädisa.
Usage notes
Used for larger cultivars, whereas rädisa is used for smaller varieties.
