prickskytte
Swedish
Etymology
prick + skytte. Compare with mitt i prick (“bullseye”).
Usage notes
Some use the terms krypskytte and prickskytte interchangeably. It is considered more appropriate to use krypskytte for snipers that act illicitly in order to poach, murder, or spread terror, and to instead use the word prickskytte for snipers that act legitimately within the military or law enforcement.
