Borrowed from Russian правосла́вный (pravoslávnyj), from Old Church Slavonic православьнъ (pravoslavĭnŭ), in turn a calque of Ancient Greek ὀρθοδοξία (orthodoxía, correctness in beliefs). By surface analysis, prawy + -o- + sławić + -ny.
