Etymology

A derivative in -kë of Proto-Albanian *priknjā, from Proto-Indo-European *perḱ- (colored; motley). Cognate to Sanskrit पृश्नि (pṛśni, spotted, speckled), Greek περκνός (perknós, dark, spotted), Welsh erch (spotted).[1]
