Etymology
A derivative in -kë of Proto-Albanian *priknjā, from Proto-Indo-European *perḱ- (“colored; motley”). Cognate to Sanskrit पृश्नि (pṛśni, “spotted, speckled”), Greek περκνός (perknós, “dark, spotted”), Welsh erch (“spotted”).[1]
