Etymology

From post- + autistic, derived from the French autisme-économie (autism economics),[1] itself from an older sense of French autisme to mean "abnormal subjectivity" or "acceptance of fantasy rather than reality."[2]

  1. (economics) Of or relating to a political movement that criticises neoclassical economics and advocates a pluralistic approach.

Usage notes

The pejorative reference to the neurodevelopmental disorder autism is considered offensive by some.[3] The Post-Autistic Economics Review was renamed the Real-World Economics Review in 2009.[4]
