Affixation of per- + *kosa (kuasa (“power”)), from ke- + *wasa, from Sanskrit वश (vaśa, “control; domination; desire”). Doublet of perkasa.
Compare to Sundanese prakosa (“mighty”), Javanese ꦥꦿꦏꦺꦴꦱ (prakosa, “mighty, powerful, strong”).
