  1. (transitive) To surpass in volume of ringing sound; to ring louder than.
    • b. 1955, traditional (lyrics and music), “Swannanoa Town”, in North Carolina Ballads, performed by Artus Moser:
      Ain't no hammer in these mountains outrings mine, baby, outrings mine.
  2. (intransitive) To ring out; to clamour.
