Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *en-salma, from Proto-Indo-European *séh₂ls (“salt”). Related to ngjelmë with cognates including Ancient Greek ἅλς (háls), Latin sāl, Old Armenian աղ (ał) and the like.[1]
