From nebēda (“carefreeness”) +‎ -īgs (with nebēda from ne- +‎ bēda (“sorrow, misfortune”)), or ne- +‎ bēdīgs (“sad, unhappy”) (with bēdīgs from bēda (“sorrow, misfortune”) +‎ -īgs).

1. cheerful, carefree (who does not worry or feel anxiety)
