neatline (plural neatlines)

  1. (cartography) The innermost line near the edge of a printed map which separates it from the margin.
    The horizontal neatlines were formed by lines of latitude.
  2. (construction) The line on plan to which a structure is to be built, usually ignoring any small irregularities of the building material.
  3. The margin of a drawing.
