From Proto-Norse *ᚾᚨᛒᚢ (*nabu), attested in ᚾᚨᛒᛟᛉ (naboʀ /nabōʀ/) (genitive singular), from Proto-Germanic *nabō. Cognate with Old English nafu (English nave).
