maxterm (plural maxterms)

  1. (algebra) A sum that is a logical OR of a set of variables where each individual variable only appears once in the sum, either in complemented or uncomplemented form, so that the value of the sum becomes 0.
    All the maxterms in a product of maxterms should have the same variables, although each maxterm should differ from every other one by the pattern of complementation of those variables.
