Etymology
From Proto-Semai *liiw, from Proto-Aslian, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ləwʔ (“long in duration”). Cognates with Vietnamese lâu, Muong lô, Old Mon lo’, whence Mon လံ (lòˀ, “long (time)”).
