From Proto-Mon-Khmer [Term?]. Cognate with Vietnamese mối (“termite”), Khmer ខ្មើរ (khmaə, “flying ant”), ខ្មុល (khmol, “mole cricket”), Proto-Katuic *kmuar (whence Pacoh camoar (“termite”)).
