Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Tupi-Guarani *kʷarat͡sɨ, from Proto-Tupian *ŋgəat. Doublet of kûara.[1] By surface analysis, kó (“this”) + 'ara (“day”) + sy (“origin”), literally “"the origin of this day"”.
Cognate with Paraguayan Guaraní kuarahy.
