Etymology

From Gaulish *garra (“leg”) (compare Welsh garr), from Proto-Celtic *garrā, which is of uncertain origin; possibly sharing a Pre-Greek / substrate origin with Ancient Greek ἄκαρα (ákara, “leg, shank”).[1]
