  1. to cover, to coat (especially with lime or plaster; as if covering with a shirt)
  2. to jacket (e.g. a bullet), to provide with a jacket
  3. (nautical) to cover (the sails) (in a waterproof canvas wrapping, after wrapping them up)
  4. (military) to reinforce (an embankment) with a wall
