immeuble
French
Etymology
Inherited from Old French immeuble/immoble, borrowed from Latin immobilis (“that which is immovable”) but adapted to the ending of meuble (“furniture”), inherited from the Latin antonym mobilis (“that which is movable”). The two terms constituted a recurrent pair in juridical Latin. Doublet of immobile.
