ilgs

Latvian
Etymology
From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dílˀgas, from Proto-Indo-European *dl̥h₁gʰós.[1] Karulis posits that the d- visible in Slavic and Indic is prefixal, but the consensus reconstruction makes the *d part of the root, with *dl simplifying to l also in Latin and Germanic.[2]
