From the genus name.

hyoscyamus (countable and uncountable, plural hyoscyamuses or hyoscyami)

  1. (botany) Any of the genus Hyoscyamus of henbanes.
  2. (medicine) The leaves of black henbane (Hyoscyamus niger), used in neuralgic and pectoral troubles.
