home is where the heart is

English

Proverb

home is where the heart is

  1. One's true home is where one feels happiest.
    • 1868, “Home”, in The Ladies' Repository, volume 28, page 107:
That which is to make home desirable does not abide in the parlor, the cellar, or the garret; it does not grow with the flowers of the garden, nor with the grass of the meadow, but is fitly expressed in the quaint old adage, "Home is where the heart is."
