gogë
Albanian
Etymology
Possibly from Proto-Albanian *gā̆gā̆-(ti-), from Proto-Indo-European *gheh₂-(gheh₂-) (“to yawn, gape”). Cognate to Ancient Greek χάσκω (kháskō, “to yawn, gape”) and Lithuanian gagù (“to cackle”). An onomatopoeic root from gogës-, as a verbal basis for further Albanian verbal formations.[1] The adjective is occasionally used as a nickname for Aromanians in Albanian.
