gastric mill (plural gastric mills)
- An organ in the gastrointestinal tract of some animals, particularly crustaceans, which contains dentition, that is used to grind food. The gnashing of the teeth/plates in the mill is also used by some of the creatures to create audible growling, as a form of communication.
