escroll (plural escrolls)

1. (obsolete) A scroll.
2. (heraldry) A long strip or scroll (resembling a ribbon or a band of parchment), sometimes bearing a motto or other text, either (rarely) used as a charge upon the shield, or placed above the shield and supporting the crest, or below the shield.
