From Ottoman Turkish دیدنمك (didinmek), from Proto-Turkic *tet- (to strive, exert; bold, hero; clever, reasonable; cheerful, vigorous).[1]

Cognate with Tuvan дидинер (didiner, to strive), Karakhanid [script needed] (tetin-, to strive), etc.
