Inherited from Vulgar Latin root *disclāvāre or *disclāviāre (probably influenced by încheia or cheie), from Late Latin clāvāre, present active infinitive of clāvō, from Latin clāvus. Compare Aromanian dishcljiedz, dishcljiari; cf. also Friulian disclavâ, French déclouer.
