Unknown, probably from inherited from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *daRaq (blood) (Doublet of rah, rāh (blood)), from Proto-Austronesian *-Raq (red), which refers to red collared dove or red turtle dove (Streptopelia tranquebarica).
