cyflym

Welsh

Etymology

cyf- + llym (keen, quick).

cyflym (feminine singular cyflym, plural cyflym, equative cynted or cyflymed, comparative cynt or cyflymach, superlative cyntaf or cyflymaf)

  1. fast, quick

Usage notes

As well as the irregular forms above, cyflym has more colloquial alternatives to the comparative and equative degrees, cyflymach and cyflymaf respectively. These are frequently used, especially due as the forms above have several meanings, e.g. cynted can mean "faster" or "as soon", cyntaf means "fastest" or "first".
