From Proto-Turkic *čōčka (“pig”), itself from from Proto-Turkic *čōč- (“child; young pig”) (whence Uzbek jujuq (“small child”)). Cognate with Tatar чучка (çuçka), Uyghur چوشقا (choshqa), Kyrgyz чочко (cocko), Khakas сосха (sosxa), Bashkir сусҡа (susqa, “pig”), etc.
