Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish قلپاق (Turkish kalpak),[1][2] from Proto-Turkic[3] or from Middle Persian kwlʾp̄k' (kulāfak, “little cap; calyx”), diminutive of kwlʾp̄ (kulāf, “cap, bonnet”),[4][5] (Persian کلاهک (kolâhak), diminutive of کلاه (kolâh, “hat”)), or from Common Turkic *kalpak.[6] Doublet of kolpik.
