Etymology 1

From German bescheren or Middle Low German bescheren, from Old High German biskeran and Old Saxon biskeran respectively, equivalent to be- + skära.[1] Cognate with Danish beskære, Norwegian Bokmål beskjære, Dutch bescheren, West Frisian beskeare, English beshear, Old Frisian biskera and Yiddish באַשערן (bashern) (See past participle באַשערט (bashert)).
