březen
Czech
Etymology
Inherited from Old Czech břězen, from Proto-Slavic *berzьnъ (“March; April”), from *berza (“birch”), which starts to bud (and give sap) in March,[1][2] + *-ьnъ. Alternatively, it might be derived from březí (“gravid”), because livestock are usually pregnant ("gravid") in March.[2]
