Hungarian
Etymology
Probably a loanword, but the source language is unknown.[1][2] Here are a few attempts for etymology (none of these are verified): Maybe from a Turkic or a Slavic language, compare Polish buk, Russian бук (buk), Proto-Slavic *bùky. Alternatively, borrowed from an unknown Eastern language, compare Finnish pyökki.
