augmented fifth (plural augmented fifths)
- (music) A musical interval made by widening a perfect fifth by one chromatic semitone. In twelve-tone equal temperament, it consists of eight semitones, spans five degrees of the diatonic scale, and is enharmonically equivalent to a minor sixth.
