age of consent (plural ages of consent)

  1. (law) The age at which a person is legally considered to be mature enough to engage willingly in sexual intercourse, so that it is not a crime for someone else to have sex with the person.
    In France the age of consent is 15 years of age, in Italy and Germany is 14 years old, in Spain and UK is 16 years old, and in 12 American states is 18 years old.
