Probably related to dialectal Finnish aapuustavi, aapuustain, in which case ultimately from aa (“the letter A”) + Swedish bokstav.
Alternatively, perhaps from a combination of now lost letter names (*aa(n) (“A”) + *puu(n) (“B”) + *sen (“C”)).
