From Middle High German ostre, from Old High German ōstarun, a case form of ōstara, from Proto-Germanic *Austrǭ.
The word is native in most of Moselle Franconian. The more traditional Ripuarian word is Poosche, which is now restricted to a few compounds. Cognate to Hunsrik Oostre
