Tonsel
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as tunsele in 1313. Etymology uncertain. Proposed etymologies include a compound composed of an unclear first component and lo (“light forest on sandy soil”) and a derivation from Middle Dutch tuunsel (“partition”). A derivation from Old Dutch Tunne (“a personal name”) is unlikely.
