Etymology
Both from Turkish Savaş and Greek Σάββας (Sávvas), the latter from Aramaic סבא (“grandfather, old man”). Several variants exist, such as Savvides, Savvopoulos, Savopoulos, Sava, Savvas.

- According to the 2010 United States Census, Savas is the 33596th most common surname in the United States, belonging to 678 individuals. Savas is most common among White (90.86%) individuals.
